“AshVill, this is were the infamous Buffy Summers will be living for some time while she courageously battles-“
“Would you quite that?” Buffy snapped at one of the more annoying watchers who used to be a poet.
Buffy Summers wasn’t exactly infamous, but there were times when she got a little to much attention for her liking. Ever since the battle at SunnyDale everyone had treated her like she was better than them. Granted, she was better that most of the new slayers but she didn’t like it when everyone treated her like she was. Buffy sighed no way was she going to be able to train, at least not now when there was so many people at the WC. Buffy walked over to a corner of the room to get her jacket while she released her hair from its tight pony tail.
Buffy got in her silver car. She had never been one for driving but she did drive when she had to. Often she could get other people to drive her places, like Xander or Giles, but since moving to AshVill she couldn’t seem to find anyone to drive her. She looked around her out the windows at the different places she could go. It was to early to go patrol. Buffy didn’t feel like being Buffy the Slayer anyway, she felt like being Buffy, just Buffy. Buffy sighed to herself, she hadn’t been ‘Just Buffy’ since before she was called.
Buffy parked her shiny silver car. She opened the door and stepped out into the Starbucks parking lot. Her hair happened to be curly just then, you could just see her twinkling silver earrings through her hair. She was wearing simple dark jeans and a white shirt. Over it she had a leather jacket. That leather jacket had been one of the few things that had made it out of Sunnydale. One of the potentials had ‘borrowed’ it and worn it in the last battle. They had ‘returned’ it once Buffy found out and threatened to go in and take it if they didn’t give it to her.
Buffy walked into the Starbucks and let her eyes travel the menu. After considering getting one of those fancy drinks she settled on a plain old coffee. Still it was overly priced but Buffy didn’t care right then. She took her coffee and walked out to one of the outside tables. There were just to chairs. Buffy sipped her coffee and cringed, to hot. She was the only one outside. No wonder it was actually kind of hot out.

The city before nightfall. So full of life, and living people, walking around the streets living their lives without knowing anything about the world beneath. Sometimes Tess remember the time before she knew about those creatures using the night as their playground, feeding on humans as no one knows enough to fight back. So the burden is on people like Tess' shoulders, cause she had dedicated all her life to one thing. fighting back and destroying every single monster she comes across. She had help. Slayers, who Tess didn't give to much for. They were over powerful humans, almost supernatural, and therefore they never used their brain at all, which just got them killed sooner or later. The city before nightfall. The city so peaceful, that Tess had nothing to do yet. Maybe get a cup of coffee on Starbucks like she used too. yeah, that should do it, they had the best coffee in the city, and that had always been a nice way to begin her hunting. "Heya Al. I'll just take the usual" Those prices were so damn high that she could only afford one at a time, but for Tess who had past 30 this were heaven. Her curly brown hair was loose like always, and her grey eyes were hard almost a little cold. It was clearly the way she came in loose jeans, a tank top, army boots almost made just for her, with a high heel, and her brown duster, that she had lived her life. And even though she were still pretty if someone took their time to look, she were too normal, and to hardened to be anyone. She came out and stopped a bit, as a girl had taken her table. the table she usually sat with, as that had the best view over the city. Damn, newcomers and blonds. She walked over to the girl though took the other chair out and sat herself down with her cup of black coffee. "nice table huh?" She turned her face and watched the girl still college age, maybe and very pretty, though even she had an experience of hard truth in her eyes to show. A smile crossed Tess' face and a bit of friendliness went through her hard shell. She could at least be polite and friendly to this girl. Well, she might be a woman now, but almost everyone were a girl in Tess' eyes. Either one way or another.

Buffy’s eyes glazed over as she began to recall things that had happened in the past. So many things had happened since the day she had been called. One of the things that stuck out in her mind was the deaths. Her mom, Tara, Anya, even Kendra came to mind. Surrounded by death. That seemed to be the fate of a slayer. Now, Buffy wasn’t the only one. Buffy wondered if changing all the potentials had been the right thing to do in the long run. Now dozen’s of girls were running around with power beyond there imagination. The word chaos came to mind. Buffy’s daze was awakened by the voice of another female.
“Hmm? Oh yeah I guess.”
Buffy looked intently at the woman. She didn’t appear to be a demon, and she was clearly not a vampire due to the sunlight shining on her. Buffy chuckled to herself. She could never be ‘Just Buffy’. ‘Just Buffy’ no longer existed. Buffy could never erase the things she knew from her mind. If she could do that than maybe she could be ‘Just Buffy’. Buffy brought her attention back to the woman. She looked to be older than Buffy, but not by much. The woman looked to be friendly enough, Buffy decided to introduce herself. After all, what better way to get used to a town was to get used to its people.
“Hi, I’m Buffy. You are?” Buffy said cheerfully and sipped her coffee.
Buffy let her hand fall to her lap, the other on her coffee. Just then a car whizzed by, loud hip hop music playing. Buffy felt a smile cross her face. Buffy suddenly felt a pain in her stomach. Buffy ignored it and wrote it of as her missing breakfast. Then it came again, harder this time. It was definitely her slayer sense. It had never been this bad before. The witches must have been right. Buffy tried not to show the pain on her face but it wasn’t working very well.

Tess smiled a bit about the name Buffy, but hell, in this country you could apparently be named anything, and no one had ever bothered about herself saying Tess to people. She took a sip of her own coffee and looked at the car driving through them with a hunters eyes. She didn't know much about different powers, and had no spider sense, as slayer had but what made Tess their equal was her experience, and her near paranoia, which made her watch anything and anyone closely. She didn't feel anything in her gut, but wouldn't be able to go after them anyway as she obviously needed the rest after several nights with almost no sleep. Not that it was something new about Tess. When one had seen horrors like she, one would get mad. For some reason she had developed the stomach for such horrors, but she always had nightmare, and that 12 year old girl she had failed to save a couple of nights ago, had made her nightmares worse. She hated when such things happened, but she couldn't sit back at home letting another kid get hurt, just because she need a little sleep. And it were clearly. Too obvious she had lived a hard life, and seen much, not to mention the sleep she had lost over the years. No Tess weren't pretty for the average everyday eyes just looking her over. It were only if one would actually give their time and see that Tess could be pretty. She woke again from the depths of her thoughts and smiled back, hoping the girl hadn't noticed the hard and watchful look that Tess had followed the car with. "Oh. sorry. People just call me Tess. At least those who know me. Something wrong?" She asked apparently natural, but her eyes suddenly became watchful, as Tess weren't to good among other people, and her many years of hunting had made her maybe a bit too cautious about "Unnatural" things.

Grey eyes scanned the area. So this was AshVill. What a dump. Djin scoffed at it. She couldn’t believe Buffy Summers would make her home here. Djin make a promise that once she destroyed the world, this place would be the first to go. By destroying she meant taking over every aspect of it and keeping humans that she didn’t kill as slaves. Djin rolled her eyes and continued incinerating the train driver. Once he was burnt to a crisp Djin flung him into a pile with all the others on the train she had killed. She looked back at her handiwork once more and let a smile creep across her face. She spun around on her heals and then headed to were she sensed power.
Djin’s white dress flowed after her at the speed of her walking. There was a red spot on the hem. You would be surprised how messy people were. Djin stopped, why should she walk when she could teleport. Djin summoned up her strength. Djin’s hair and skin turned blinding white. Her eyes turned black. In a moment Djin appeared in the middle of a road. A car with loud hip-hop music playing passed her. Djin walked onto the sidewalk. In front of her was a coffee shop, on sitting at one of the tables outside was Buffy Summers.
There was another woman sitting there. Djin could kill them both now, but she wanted to have some fun. She wanted Buffy and her friends to be there when she annihilated thousands of people. If what Djin had heard about Buffy was true, than Buffy couldn’t resist putting her nose were it didn’t belong. Djin’s hair and skin slowly began to fade to its normal color. Her eyes remained black. Djin started to walk behind a building but first she sent a blast toward a table with a couple kissing. The blast killed them in seconds. Djin noticed Buffy look her way. Djin flashed her an evil smile and then walked into an alleyway.

The pain kept getting stronger and stronger. Buffy felt at the moment she would die. Buffy could hold in no longer. She let out a scream just as the explosion happened. Buffy turned to look behind her, there was a girl. She looked to be roughly thirteen. The girl looked up at Buffy and smiled. Another rush of ‘slayer pain’ Buffy had grown to call it, came. When Buffy blinked the girl was gone, and the pain slowly subsiding. Buffy knew what the girl was. She was evil. To the bone. More evil than anything Buffy had ever encountered before.
“Oh…my…god…” Were the only words Buffy could muster before vomiting up the remains of her breakfast and coffee.
It had been a long time since Buffy had felt like this. Over powered and week. Buffy had no doubt in her mind that ‘the good guys’ would win. They always did. Then alittle voice in her head would blare out a warning. It was like when she was fighting Glory, it seemed as though nothing could kill her. This evil must have a weak spot also. Buffy pushed these thoughts away. Maybe this girl was only a little evil and it was a false alarm, Buffy would have to call the witches coven when she got back to slayer HQ.
Just then Buffy remembered the woman who she had been sitting with. Buffy looked up, panic in her eyes. How was she going to explain this to a random person. No doubt they would think she was crazy, but that was all Buffy could do. She didn’t have enough energy to make up some big lie.

Now, this Buffy were defiantly a slayer no question about it. Calm trying not to attrack any trouble Tess looking up at the explosion, already having a hand on her gun trying not to show her knife as her eyes searched the area for anything or anyone. Not much out of the ordinary. A lot of screaming people a smiling girl, a nice bike... Wait, a smiling girl? When there had just been an explosion. Her eyes went back to were she had seen that little girl, but nothing were there. All her senses were ready which were properly the only thing making sure she got away before the girl puked on her boots. Out of the corner of her eye she had seen this Buffy and there could be no doubt about it. A slayer. Pretty old for a slayer, as Tess had the impression they usually died too young, but Tess couldn't be totally certain. What if she weren't and this girl just thought she were crazy? Well, that wouldn't be something new, but even worse, what if she believed her, and decided to go hunting herself? Catastrophe! At least it would be if... slowly she turned her face and watched Buffy. Panic? Panic over an explosion? She truly couldn't be a slayer not if she couldn't even handle the rotten scent of fried corpse. Not something Tess were too fond off, but some demons actually smelled that way downwind. "Come. We better go, the cops will show up pretty quick in this town." She stood up, and halfway hurled halfway helped Buffy up her chair and away to wards the exit of this center. Not good to be near if you were a little too calm. And even though this Buffy had made just the right move, she didn't scream, and she had been sitting right next to the most calm person in the world, who even got to finish her coffee while the couple got fried. Her steel grey eyes searched everywhere and watched everything as the went on. She were quite strong for a woman, especially in her age, never having children, but otherwise she were quite calm, and walked like they were two girls not coming running away from the cops who would soon show up. "You never answered me what was wrong?" Suddenly she looked at Buffy with deep eyes, and a friendly smile, though she had a thought with the question. Not many slayers said who they were to anyone, why would they? it would be pretty much suicide and somehow someone had teached them to be just a bit safe about that. But Tess had cracked legends and myth code languages and other stuff most of her life, and she thought she would be able to see in the reaction or something if the girl were who Tess thought she were, or just a normal average girl just coming to town, and properly wondering why Tess didn't like the cops.

Buffy straightened out to compose herself. She looked at Tess. Buffy supposed she could knock this woman out. She would wake having no clue whether she had been dreaming or not. Buffy decided against it. The woman looked fairly strong, Buffy supposed she might already know. Buffy looked into Tess’s eyes and said completely seriously. “Vampires, demons, they are real. That was an evil witch who is possibly trying to destroy the world. I am a slayer destined to kill before mentioned demons and vampires.”
Buffy turned her gaze from Tess. Buffy expected the woman to faint, follow her or go home. Buffy’s feet hitting the ground made the ash fly up in little puffs. Buffy walked swiftly to were she had seen the girl disappear to. All Buffy ran down the ally a few feet she realized that the girl was long gone whoever she had been.

Tess stopped in shock. Not that those beast she usually hunted in the middle of the night were real, hell she had known that for years now. many years. No it were the shock that this slayer apparently were more stupid than she first had shown, and she must have been lucky not to be dead already. Tess frowned and shook her head before following the girl. "Nice story girl. If you say that to anyone, you are either very strong, or very stupid. either they lock you in for sure or you die because the demons and vampires suddenly begins to think for themselves." She herself pulled out her gun and looked watchful to both sides, before storing it again, and sighed heavely "That witch is long gone. Looks like I gotta use another night hunting and questioning." She looks back and as a wind blow past them and takes her coat there are several cross and a single stake plus a knife under it. Even in broad daylight she is prepared. Then she flashes a grin to Buffy and throw out her hand for a handshake. "Guess I shouldn't complain. Its what I do afterall. Tess Demon hunter and killer of various supernatural beings that just doesn't belong. Nice to meet you." She has lived a hard life, but she really likes it that way, and wouldn't trade for all the wealth in the world. Sure it gets tough, but in times like now its clear even to those who watches her, that she finds joy in her duty, and thats how she survives only being a mortal.

Buffy said nothing and stared at this ‘Tess’ person. Buffy knew people were demon hunters, usually it was a personal grudge against them. Buffy said nothing at the girl’s weaponry. Buffy knew that being a slayer you would have an early death, but chosing to end your life early seemed rather stupid to her. Buffy quickly shook her hand to be polite.
“Look, maybe sometime you will be helpful, but right now I would suggest you not go looking for this girl until we have verified who she is. If she is who I think she is…just stay out of her and my way.”
Buffy knew she could have been nicer about it but she didn’t feel like choosing her words carefully. If this woman was a true demon hunter than she could handle harsh words. Buffy sniffed the air. She could smell burnt flesh. Walking over to the explosion the smell became stronger. The couple were a pile of ashes. The ashes were shaped the way they had been sitting. They didn’t even know what hit them. Buffy shook her head. She would send someone from the new WC to do damage control. Buffy turned back to the woman.

Tess frowned when Buffy said she were practical useless. Hell, did she think that Tess would jump into danger or anything? she were 31 and had done this since... too long, not having any life at all to look back on when it was her turn to pass away. she slowly followed this Buffy girl intending to be just as "polite" as this girl. Sure she could take it, and sure the words would be forgotten in a minute or so, but that didn't mean that Tess had any intention of just letting it pass. No matter how old a slayer this Buffy were, Tess had properly done it for far longer than this girl, and with no power at all. She were still alive and there were a reason to that. No slayer should ever tell that they had stepped all over Tess unpunished. "I don't know much about slayers, but I properly have done this thing longer than you lady. Do I look stupid enough to just go to the damn girl that humor herself by toasting people? Maybe you're a slayer girl, but for what I have seen that gives you less credits than those people out there." She pointed out on the panicking people who slowly tried to calm each other down, as they hadn't reached the tables yet.
As they did and Buffy asked her the question Tess looked down upon them as if she had forgotten them. like she were talking about the weather she slowly turned her gaze to Buffy again and shook her head once. "Nope. Not any regular. Oh and by the way. Who is "we?" Not that it was exactly what I meant by questioning to verify who she were, but you and what army of geeks are to verify her, if you don't question the guys walking in the environment?" By the guys she clearly meant vampires and demons, which meant that she either knew someone, or she would find one, but a gun to his head, and a knife at his throat while having some holy water ready for torture and then ask the poor guy. Knowing Tess one would say the last part, but Buffy didn't know Tess. Neither did anyone else really as Tess never had the time to know anyone. Nor did she had anyone who stayed mental stabil after a meeting with such creatures. She were a loner, doing her job, and then disappear. And that was how she would die one day, if that came tonight or any other night.

Buffy shifted from foot to foot. It sounded to her that Tess really didn’t know who she was. Which would be nice if they were not possibly in imminent danger. Buffy let out a rather irritated sigh. Vampires knew who she was, demons knew who she was, and just when she could use it most, someone didn’t know who she was. Buffy spun around on her heels and tilted her head in a cocky sort of way.
“By we I mean the new watchers council, run by me, Buffy Summers, AKA slayer who came up with the idea to make all potential slayers into slayers. I have died twice and will probably die again in the near future. You know how many vampires and demons you have killed, I have killed a whole lot more than that. Don’t forget the apocalypses I have prevented. You seem to have climbed a pretty tall ladder, congratulations, but don’t get in a contest with me about who’s is higher cause I will always win.” Buffy said irritation thick in her voice.
Buffy walked over to her silver car and slammed the door. Maybe she had been to short with Tess, after all, anyone who protected innocent was pretty decent. Sadly Buffy got short with everyone whenever she couldn’t save someone. It was the way she was. Buffy pulled out of the parking space and began to drive back to the WC.

Tess were quite surprised though she had get used to a composure that was maybe too cool for many people. While Buffy yelled up, and played cocky trying to put Tess down on his place, she just began to find her cigarettes and lighted one up. As Buffy were done Tess asked her by a cigarette handed out to wards her. When Buffy then slammed her silver car that could have been a damn mercedes to Tess she smiled calmly and began to follow. As She never had a car, and never had time to get a license Tess was pretty used to walk. She knew she wouldn't see anything right away, but she didn't mind. She would know that Cocky Buffy from across the world, and maybe she should check out that new watchers council whatever that were, if not for curiosity, which drived her pretty much right now, then to say they might should make this Buffy girl a little less smart ass. Quickly she left as the sirens began to howl in the distance following the silver car who quickly disappeared too. It didn't mind. She would find out who that Buffy were. Not that it mattered. She had a thing or two to tell her next time they would meet. Like Buffy had all sorts of help to get such a high score, while Tess had nothing but sheer experience. Watchers council training slayers. Hmm. If that were what they did, they did a bloody poor job. Maybe they should teach then how to think. that would be an improvement. deeply in those thought and with a little smile Tess began to walk around. It was too late to do anything, so she might as well walk around, she could swing by her apartment before sundown to get the real equipment. the peashooter and the splint chopper weren't much good were she were headed. Maybe Buffy were a great slayer, but no one knew this city as Tess did. Tess would get her information, and she would get it fast, by real life investigation. She had not many books where it were real, so Tess had found another way to investigate. A weak demon or vampire, a little to nosy for his own good, who quickly grew desperate. Especially with the reputation Tess had in town.

((She is so hilarious. They are a perfect match, as Tess have a special way with people... She will come around and knock Buffy's overconfidence down to earth, as she is that way herself.^^))
